Korea’s first cloud hospital information system introduced… Acceleration of’Medical Digital New Deal’

It is expected that the establishment of a national big data precision medical ecosystem that is being promoted as a digital new deal in the medical field will be in full swing. Korea University Medical Center Anam, Guro, and Ansan Hospitals will introduce the first cloud hospital information system developed with the participation of eight information and communication technology (ICT) companies including Samsung SDS, Bit Computer, and Naver Cloud and six medical institutions.

On the 23rd, the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Ministry of Health and Welfare held a declaration ceremony for the introduction of Korea University Medical Center (Anam) of the Precision Medical Hospital Information System (P-HIS) developed with the participation of 6 medical institutions and 8 ICT companies centering on Korea University Medical Center. The proclamation ceremony was held to commemorate the first application of P-HIS, developed as Korea’s first cloud hospital information system, to Anam Hospital of Korea University Medical Center, and to demonstrate the medical services provided by using it.

This project is being carried out as a project to develop cloud-based P-HIS by investing about 20 billion won by the government and about 10.9 billion won by the private sector for 5 years from 2017 to next year, and to spread and spread it to domestic and foreign hospitals. The government is expected to build a platform to collect, analyze, and utilize medical data through the dissemination and spread of P-HIS, and contribute to the establishment of a precision medical foundation that can add and link various medical services.

P-HIS is a system that responds to the needs of hospitals of various sizes by developing 38 standard modules (8 for primary hospitals) for hospital services such as outpatient care, inpatient care, and hospital care. As it is developed based on cloud technology, it is expected to be advantageous for initial construction cost, ease of system operation and maintenance, additional application of various medical information, and rapid new service development.

P-HIS provides additional services such as mobile electronic medical records (EMR), personal health management record system (PHR) that can collect and manage health data such as patient’s body temperature and blood pressure, and intelligent on-site treatment (POC). POC is a real-time treatment and prescription check service according to the notification from the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

Mobile EMR enables medical staff to check various medical data of patients in real time when visiting the hospital for treatment. PHR is an important use in the Corona 19 Life Treatment Center by supporting the health management of patients non-face-to-face. Intelligent POC prevents duplicate prescriptions, duplicate tests, etc. according to the latest treatment standards and suggests more effective customized treatments.

Lee Sang-heon, head of the P-HIS business at Korea University Medical Center, said, “It is very important that P-HIS is widely distributed and diffused to build a national big data precision medical ecosystem.” It will be applied in turn and gradually spread and spread to other hospitals.”

2nd Vice Minister of Science and Technology Jang Seok-young requested that “P-HIS spreads widely and lays a foundation for the public to receive a higher level of medical service.”

Im In-taek, head of the Health Industry Policy Bureau of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, urged, “To build the foundation for a successful precision medical system, the supply and spread of hospitals at all levels should be promoted without a hitch.”
