The personal information of a Korean international student who secretly photographed about 20 women in the UK was released to foreign media.
On the 1st of the local time, the British Daily Mail reported that a Korean man, Kim Mo, 21, was handed over to trial on charges of illegal filming.
According to reports, Kim was caught installing a mobile phone to shoot illegally in a communal shower room at the University of Manchester in November 2019.
He was caught in the first part of the video that was being recorded.
Police found dozens of illegally filmed videos on cell phones.
It was investigated that illegal filming took place not only in universities, but also in various places such as buses and shopping malls.
Mr. Kim admitted to the charges.
Victim A said, “Mr. Kim didn’t look like someone to do that,” he said. “I now have to check to see if there are any hidden cameras wherever I go.”
Victim B said, “I have a problem in my daily life after the incident,” and “I am very upset without believing it.”
The judge ordered Mr. Kim to work 220 hours of unpaid work and 36 months of social service.
In addition, he completed 240 hours of sexual crime re-offense prevention program and sentenced him to five years in prison for five years to disclose his identity.
The judge said, “The victims are complaining of suffering from the crime, but it was considered that Mr. Kim’s age was young and that he could be managed in the community.”
Local media such as the Daily Mail revealed their faces and real names, saying, “Mr. Kim, who photographed illegally, avoided jail sentences,” and “A perverted student photographed about 20 female students illegally.”
