The government spread kimchi through ambassadors to Korea. According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism on the 21st, the Overseas Culture Promotion Agency presented a’Kimchi Making Package’ to eighteen foreign embassies in Korea in celebration of the recent Lunar New Year. It is a meal kit that can be made just by mixing it with pickled cabbage and seasoning.

Ambassadors from Hungary, Denmark and Belgium to Korea shared videos and photos of kimchi making with their families or employees on social network service (SNS). Hungarian Ambassador Chomer Moses, who married a Korean, sent a 7-minute vlog of kimchi with his family to Koreanet, which is run by the Overseas Cultural Promotion Agency. We talked about kimchi with his wife and introduced Hungarian food similar to kimchi.

Danish Ambassador to Korea Ainer Jensen also posted videos and photos of kimchi making on social media. Ambassador Yessen advised, “Because kimchi is seasoned very much, you should be careful not to get into your eyes.” The Belgian Embassy in Korea also released photos of employees making kimchi on social media, and wrote, “It was a good time to strengthen unity among the embassy staff and to know kimchi, a Korean food, to employees who have not yet encountered kimchi.”

Kuwaiti Ambassador Badr Muhammad Alawadi received the’Kimchi Making Package’ and sent a green tea set with a letter of appreciation in return. Park Jeong-ryul, head of the Overseas Culture Promotion Agency, said, “I think meaningfully because I can introduce the culture of making kimchi to the embassy in Korea. We will continue to provide various opportunities to promote kimchi in the future.”
