The Korea Automobile Industry Association announced on the 8th that it has recaptured last year’s position as the fifth largest automobile production in the world, which Korea gave to India since 2016 through a survey of the’Top 10 Car Production Status in 2020′. Last year, world auto production showed a significant decline of 15.5%, and the top 10 automakers were counted in the order of ▲China ▲US ▲Japan ▲Germany ▲Korea ▲India ▲Mexico ▲Spain ▲Brazil ▲Russia.

In the aftermath of Corona 19, all countries in the fourth-largest producers, such as China (2.0%), the United States (19.0)%, Japan (16.7%), and Germany (24.7%), decreased their production. Korea’s production also declined 11.2%, but the decline was relatively small, rising from 7th in 2019 to 5th in 2020.

In particular, Korea’s overseas sales fell 21.4% to 1.89 million units due to the aftermath of Corona 19, but domestic sales of domestic cars increased 4.7% to 1.61 million units due to strong domestic demand.

A KAMA official said, “Our recapture of the 5th place is mainly due to production disruptions in India and Mexico due to Corona 19.” It is also caused by sudden changes,” he analyzed.
