With the announcement of the new director of Kiwoom Heroes imminent, head coach Kim Chi-hyun said, “It is right to be one of the candidates” about Hong Won-ki (48), who has emerged as a leading candidate.

In a phone call with News 1 on the 21st, Director Kim said, “Senior coach Hong is also one of the (director) candidates who conducted an interview with the director.”

He said, “It’s not yet confirmed. The new CEO will decide,” he said, but “I hope it will be announced soon.”

Due to the atmosphere, the director’s appointment work has been completed to some extent, and the announcement seems to be imminent. It is expected to be possible during this day as soon as possible.

Chief coach Hong is emerging as a leading candidate. Previously, one media reported that Hong was appointed as Kiwoom’s new director.

Kiwoom, who ended the season with manager Sohn Hyeok resigning last year and acting as manager Kim Chang-hyun, still has a vacant position. Initially, the announcement was made in November of last year, but the resignation of CEO Ha Song and sanctions by Chairman Heo Min of the Board of Directors left the company unable to carry out the core work.

However, at the end of last year, the disciplinary action of the Korean Baseball Commission (KBO) was confirmed against Chairman Heo Min, and the new CEO Hong Heo was officially appointed on the 15th, and the resolution of the task is speeding up. The appointment of a manager is considered the most urgent issue among them. The new CEO was also the first to review the appointment of a director, and it seems that the final announcement is ahead.

Chief coach Hong is one of the new director Kiwoom candidates, and last year, he conducted a manager interview. Kiwoom was nominated for candidates, including chief coach Hong at the time, acting as manager Kim Chang-hyun and second team coach Seol Jong-jin. As there is no further work to date, it is expected that a new manager will be selected from the existing candidates.
