Dongkuk Steel said that President Kim Yeon-guk had inspected the accident site at the Busan plant on the 18th and announced the public apology.
President Kim said, “I am terrible and sorry that an accident that should never occur,” said, “I wish the deceased condolences with grief. I will deeply mourn and apologize to the bereaved families, and I will accept all reprimands and blame.”
He emphasized, “We will review the measures to create a safe workplace from the beginning and take all possible measures thoroughly. To protect the safety and health of all working people, we will connect the safety system with outsourcing and even our partners.”
President Kim Yeon-guk visited the Pohang plant on that day, following the Busan plant, to discuss ways to strengthen environmental safety and health with the company-wide safety team leaders.
To strengthen safety management, Dongkuk Steel decided to implement a wide range of practical measures such as building a smart environment and safety platform and expanding investment in environment, safety and health.
On the previous day, POSCO Chairman Jeong-woo Choi made an apology to the public for the death that occurred on the 16th. Along with this, POSCO has introduced more reinforced safety measures in addition to the existing KRW 1 trillion safe investment.
