“President Yoon Seok-yeol will try to take off his clothes if there is a justification.”

This is the reaction of Rep. Kim Woong, a former chief prosecutor, who encountered Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol’s first media interview. Rep. Kim said in a telephone interview with JoongAng Ilbo on the 2nd, “In the position of President Yoon, whose term ends at the end of July, after the results of the 4/7 by-election came out, there was no point in revealing the opposition to the Severe Crime Investigation Office (SMB). You probably know that it doesn’t make sense,” he said. “It seems that Yun seems to be fighting for his passport.”

Rep. Kim said, “There seems to be a possibility of political participation,” to Yoon, who took office for the first time after taking office on this day, about a year before the next presidential election. I asked him, who had been in the prosecution until relatively recently.

President Yoon Suk-yeol came to the fore against the heavy water administration.
“President Yoon would have thought that if not now, during his term of office, he couldn’t do anything against him. Now, the Blue House and key members of the pro-munity think that the front line of’dae Yoon Seok-yeol’ is the most fatal ahead of the 4/7 by-election. President Moon’s lame duck controversy, and the story of the Blue House’s ‘heavy water office speed control’ should also be understood in such an extension. Don’t even the hard-liners of the passports who pushed the heavy water office against the offensive a little when the election atmosphere ripens.”

The timing of the interview is strange.
“From President Yoon’s point of view, if it is not now, there is no opportunity to speak. After the election, as the story of the successor prosecutor general comes out, Yun’s power will naturally fade. It’s useless if I go there and take the position of president.”

What is the likelihood of participation in politics?
“It can also be viewed as a sign of political participation. Prosecutor Han Dong-hoon, an aide, also had a media interview before Yun. Looking at this, there may be someone around President Yoon who advises that’there is not much time left’. Yoon’s approval rating, which recently fell sharply, may have had an impact. General Yoon has an aspect of rapid growth as an antithesis (opposite side) of’live power’. If you don’t keep it, the public quickly forgets. In the future, we may continue to fight intentionally.”

Rep. Kim, who has worked for a long time in the criminal department, a non-preferred service within the prosecution, is far from the’Yoon Suk-yeol division’ represented by the so-called’special bottle’. At the time of Moon Moo-il in 2018, the prosecutor general selected him as the chief prosecutor in criminal policy and future planning. This is the position in charge of the prosecution’s practical affairs of the Moon Jae-in administration’s first national affairs,’Adjustment of Prosecutor’s Investigation Rights’.

At that time, there was a story in the legal profession that “two prosecutors general coexisted from the crosswalk in Seocho-dong, Seoul.” This is a term referring to the great prosecutor’s general Moon Moo-il and the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office Yoon Seok-yeol. This is a scene that clearly shows the influence of Prosecutors’ Officer Yoon, who led the Moon Jae-in government’s investigation into the liquidation of the enemy at the time.

At the time of the adjustment of the investigative powers in 2019, wasn’t Yun silent?
“At the time, there would not have been much rejection from the position of’special container’ to adjust the right to investigate. At the time, the home country chief Min Jeong said,’I will continue to the special investigation field that the prosecution is already doing well.’ It was not Moon Moo-il, who shouted to reduce the direct investigation by the prosecution and strengthen the criminal department, but Seok-yeol Yoon’s hand. However, when General Yoon pointed the sword at them, they couldn’t stand it.”

What do you think is the reason for the hard-liners of passports to promote the heavy water administration?
“There are two. The first seems to be a personal vengeance for prosecution by the prosecution, and the second seems to be for the purpose of regaining control in the passport. At the time of the conflict between former Justice Minister Choo Mi-ae and President Yoon, the provincial powers of Kang-gyeong drove him, but in the end, did it not end with the decision of President Yoon? As they couldn’t push him out at the time, President Moon’s trust would have been lost.”
