[아시아타임즈=박민규 기자] Hanwha Eagles’ representative franchise hitter Kim Tae-gyun (38) has declared retirement.
The Hanwha club officially announced on the 21st that “Kim Tae-gyun expressed his intention to retire from active duty, saying he wants to give more opportunities to his juniors.” He said, “The club will prepare for the retirement ceremony of the best Kim Tae-gyun.”
Through the club, Tae-gyun Kim conveyed the reason for his decision to retire, saying, “We have grown up with good juniors who can lead the future at Hanwha Eagles.”
He added, “It’s a pity that both the club and the fans gave a lot of love, but I didn’t seem to be able to repay them, but when I think about the future of our team, I thought it was time to retire.”
Hanwha is planning to appoint Kim Tae-gyun as a special assistant next season, reflecting the intention of the player to return the love he received from the club and fans.
Accordingly, Tae-gyun Kim will take on the role of a manager’s assistant advisor who participates in major power-related meetings and overseas training in the team next season.
Tae-gyun Kim, who joined Hanwha in 2001, is a staple franchise hitter who was active only at Hanwha, except for his career in the 2010-2011 Japanese professional baseball Chiba Lotte Marines.
He competed in the 2014 game in his career, with 2209 hits, 3rd most hits, 4th with 3557 bases, 2nd overall with a career OBP of 0.421, 5th with a career batting average of 0.320, and 11th with 311 home runs. He left him and became a top hitter in the league.
Tae-gyun Kim also bought many models outside of baseball.
In 2013, the first professional baseball player to donate more than 100 million won, or join the Honor Society member, a group of members who agreed to pay within five years, and donated a large amount every year to disadvantaged neighbors.
In the family, she has a wife, former sports announcer Kim Seok-ryu, and two daughters.
