Kim Joo-hyung (19), who made a 10th sensation in the Korean Tour of the Korea Professional Golf Association (KPGA) last year, is going to the American Express (PGA) Tour American Express ($6.7 million in prize money) for the first time in 2021.

Kim Joo-hyung participated as a sponsor invited player at this tournament held in La Quinta, California, USA for four days starting on the 22nd (Korean time), and will knock on the door of the PGA Tour once again following last year. Kim Joo-hyung, who conquered the Asian Tour Panasonic Open in November last year, stepped into the domestic stage last year and won the Korean Tour Gunsan CC Open in July. Kim Joo-hyung, who broke the record for the youngest professional player in the history of the tour (18 years and 21 days), threw a challenge on the stage of the PGA Tour whenever there was a chance.

On last year’s PGA Tour, he ended the major PGA Championship with a cut, but participated in PGA Tour competitions such as the Safeway Open, Corales Puntacana Resort Club Championship and The CJ Cup held in September-October. It was a tie for 33rd in the Resort Club Championship, confirming the possibility. Kim Joo-hyung, who is currently ranked 154 in the world rankings, was named in the ’10 Expected Male Golfers in 2021′ earlier this year by the golf channel specializing in golf in the United States.

In this competition, 7 Korean players including Kim Joo-hyung, Lim Seong-jae (23), Ahn Byung-hoon (30), Kim Si-woo (26), Kang Seong-hoon (34), Lee Gyeong-hoon (30), and Noh Seung-yeol (30) will appear. Roh Seung-yeol was determined to shake off the regret of being eliminated from the cut after he returned from military service through this tournament last year. In addition, Kevin Na (USA), a Korean-American, who won five victories in the tour career at the PGA Tour Sony Open, which ended on the 18th, challenges to win for two consecutive weeks. Initially, the competition was held in a pro-am method in which professionals and amateurs play together, but this year, due to concerns about the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19), it was decided to play only professional players without accompanying amateurs.
