People’s Strength Kim Jong-in, chairman of the Emergency Response Committee, showed confidence in the final unification, saying on the 6th that “the situation will not come where the strength of the people will not be able to make a candidate for the Seoul Mayor by-election.”

Chairman Kim appeared in the KBS late-night discussion on that day and said, “When looking at the process of unification of Korea in the past, it was common for a party candidate with roots in a large party to become a single candidate.”

When asked, “Do you have any intention of receiving the one-shot contest of CEO Ahn Chul-soo,” Chairman Kim said, “I said this because I was unstable by myself, and I said that, but we can’t be attracted to such a story.” He then dismissed Ahn’s rumors about joining the party, saying, “He said he couldn’t join because he thought he couldn’t be elected with the sign of the people’s strength.”

He said, “I don’t know if this is because Yangban Lee (CEO Ahn) is not aware of how the world is changing, but when I saw that the Future Integration Party completely collapsed in the metropolitan area in the 4-15 general election, I think the people’s strength is the same as then.” Will that be worth it?” he asked.

When asked if the Seoul Mayor’s by-election would help change the party, Chairman Kim said, “In the general election in April last year, the Future Unified Party had a major defeat in the metropolitan area, and I was worried about whether the party could survive again. It seems that it will be an opportunity to prepare,” he predicted, “If the candidate for the power of the people is elected in the Seoul Mayor’s election, our politics will be very swirling.

The possibility of the final election of former lawmaker Geum Tae-seop or Ahn as a single candidate for opposition was dismissed. He said, “I don’t think that kind of situation will come,” he said. “If you look at the process of unification of candidates in the past, those who have roots in the big party eventually become unified.”

It is also clear that in 2011, independent candidate Park Won-soon overtook Democratic candidate Park Young-seon and became a single candidate. “At that time, the Democratic Party led by Sohn Hak-gyu led the strategy itself, and candidate Park Young-sun had no choice but to lose.”

Regarding the point that the presidential candidates within the party are negligent because they do not create a large space, he said, “A person who will become a presidential candidate must cultivate the ability to rise by himself. I think it is impossible to become president just because the party makes a seat. He refuted.

Regarding the possibility of Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol’s running for president, he avoided an immediate answer, saying, “I don’t know that.” When asked about the necessity of pardoning former President Lee Myung-bak and Park Geun-hye, he said, “If I talk about it as a matter of hope, I think that the president will do it during his term of office.”

Chairman Kim, who has experienced both the Democratic Party and the people’s strength, said about the difference in organizational culture between the two parties, “The Democratic Party is a party that has been a long-standing opposition party, and the people’s power is a political party that has been a long-standing ruling party in the past. The difference is that the Democratic Party seems to have strong resilience and the people’s power is not.”

Chairman Kim said, “I don’t think so. If both Seoul and Busan mayors win by-elections, the term of office will be extended. Regardless of the election win or loss, in April, I will decide my move on my own, so I don’t have to think about it. “There are many people inside the party who want (the party’s representative position), but I can’t compete. I can say that I am going to finish my job.”
