People’s Power Kim Jong-in, chairman of the Emergency Response Committee, said that if the unification of the opposition candidate fails in the Seoul Mayor’s by-election in April, the candidate who caused the’three-way structure’ will not be chosen by the voters.
It is interpreted as an intention to publicly press Ahn Chul-soo, the representative of the People’s Party, who is the counterpart of the unification negotiation, while emphasizing the opinion that the unification of the candidate is essential.
In an interview with the MBC News Desk on the evening of the 21st, Chairman Kim said, “If the opposition candidate becomes unified, there is no need for a three-way composition.” Said.
Chairman Kim emphasized, “I don’t think the votes will go to those who break the unity,” he said.

Chairman Kim also responded to President Ahn’s proposal to join the People’s Power Contest without a participation in the contest, saying, “Unless you are a party member in charge of the Party Constitution and Party Rules, you cannot participate in the contest. The rest of the way is to ask the public who is the right candidate in early March after our party candidate is confirmed,” he drew again.
On the same evening, Ahn Cheol-soo, the head of the National Assembly, held a broadcast on YouTube LIVE under the theme of’A solution for unifying the winning opposition’, emphasizing a strong commitment to unifying candidates.
Representative Ahn suggested, “Let’s gather together with our (opposition) candidates to make a pledge to the public,” and suggested, “We will give up to the results and help that person win no matter who becomes a single candidate.” In addition, he asked, “If you make a promise to the public, will a public politician be able to break it and run again?” It is interpreted that he has repeatedly expressed his intention not to create a’three-way composition’ that Kim is concerned about even if he cannot become a single candidate.
