Eighteen days after the revision of the Airlift Act, which neutralized the opposition party’s veto power, Kim Jin-wook, senior researcher at the Constitutional Court and Lee Kun-ri, vice chairman of the Civil Rights Commission, were recommended as two final candidates.
Candidate Jin-wook Kim, a former judge, participated as a special investigator in the Special Prosecutors’ Team in the case of the Mint Corporation strike induction, and candidate Lee Geon-ri, a former prosecutor, served as the chairman of the 5 18 Democratization Movement Special Assistance Committee of the Ministry of National Defense.
Both of them are legal lawyers recommending the Korean Bar Association, not the opposition parties, but they appear to be the result of being conscious of the controversy over political neutrality and independence.
When the exercise of the right to nominate additional candidates was not accepted, two members of the Power of the People nomination committee who rebelled were sent out, and both candidates received a vote of approval from all five remaining members.
Attorney General Choo Mi-ae, who originally recommended another lawyer, agreed.

However, he did not answer questions from reporters regarding the discipline of Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol.

Minister Choo Mi-ae also posted a post on a YouTube account by Democratic Party lawmakers claiming the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-yeol.
The power of the people protested that the opposition party member’s right to recommend candidates was deprived and that it would file an invalid lawsuit including a request for suspension of execution.
