Kia GS Caltex Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Expansion | Hankyung.com

Kia and GS Caltex are expanding the electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

On the 11th, Kia signed a contract with GS Caltex to install and use an ultra-fast electric vehicle charger. The main point is that Kia invests in installing a charger at GS Caltex’s gas station. Kia electric car drivers using chargers can enjoy discounts at the gas station.

Kia is investing in the installation of a total of eight chargers, including one 350kW super-fast charger and seven 200kW chargers at four GS Caltex gas stations in Seoul, Incheon, Suwon, and Guri. GS Caltex is in charge of operation and management. The goal is to start charging services in the first half of the year.

Kia EV6, which was unveiled this month, is a product made based on the electric vehicle platform (E-GMP) and has an 800V charging system. With a 350kW charger, it can charge up to 80% in 18 minutes. Kia plans to provide discounts or free recharge coupons when EV6 drivers recharge at GS Caltex gas stations nationwide.

On this day, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia signed a’Mutual Cooperation Business Agreement for Data-Based Service Development’ with Hankook Tire & Technology. It agreed to exchange data and technology necessary for providing mobility services such as vehicle operation and management, and to cooperate in service improvement and new business creation.

First, it plans to jointly develop a solution that accurately measures and predicts the degree of tire wear and changes in condition. It also decided to release a tire management service, such as notification of when to change tires customized for each vehicle and driver.
