The Korea Electric Power Corporation announced that it will conduct the’Power Field Safety Diagnosis’ to prevent safety accidents during the sea ice season and to supply stable electricity by the 30th of next month.

This electric power sector safety check is a measure to prevent safety accidents and power outages in advance by conducting intensive power facility inspections at times when the ground weakens due to temperature changes and wildfires due to dry weather increase.

First of all, KEPCO conducted an inspection on the power facilities and construction sites in the terrain where there is a concern about an accident due to the weakening of the ground during the sea ice season.

Power facilities on topography with risk of ground loss, such as steep slopes, were identified to check for cracks and subsidence of slopes, damage or deformation of power facility structures, and the condition of roads and sidewalks near underground facilities such as manholes and power outlets.

Power facilities near the large-scale excavation site were inspected instantly, and the condition of safety protection facilities, such as the construction of the site of concern for sediment collapse, was also checked. In preparation for the possibility of wildfires due to dryness and strong winds in spring, facility inspections were also conducted in hazardous areas.

For 1,772 tracks passing through the mountainous area, scientific diagnosis equipment was used to diagnose and reinforce, and preliminary battery work was performed on trees near power facilities and trees expected to grow rapidly in summer.

An official from KEPCO said, “This is a public-private joint inspection conducted by KEPCO for safety inspection in vulnerable times as the implementation of the’National Safety Team’ is delayed due to the spread of the corona.” “We plan to make every effort to supply stable electricity by carrying out maintenance and continuous disaster safety management reinforcement activities.”
