On the 11th, KBS apologized for the controversy over the color controversy over the Lunar New Year special program’Chosun Pop Again’. On the 18th, regarding the’Japanese surname’ image used as the stage background of the artist, the suspicion that the crew’s explanation was false was clarified by releasing explanatory material.

On the 19th, KBS said, “The day before, the production crew of’Chosun Pop Again’ expressed their position on the controversy that the image of’Yongung’ used in the stage background of Inalchi band’Yeonari’ is similar to a Japanese castle. I want to get in touch with news articles and inform the process of video production.”

According to KBS, an external graphic team in charge of the video source searched for images on a paid site to represent the non-existent Yonggung, and among dozens of images searched with the keyword’Korean surname vector’ to find a reference (Figure 1). I chose one and used it. In addition, the designer in charge of the external graphic team selected one image (Fig. 2) that he thought would match Yonggung among several objects and proceeded with the graphic work.

Afterwards, the production team checked the completed LED video source with various elements only with the image and recorded it, but after controversy was raised, it was confirmed that the expression’Imperial Palace’ remained in the image data as an explanatory caption. This is the broadcaster’s explanation.

KBS said, “In this process, the production team confirmed that the video source similar to the graphic was used as the stage background for’Immortal Masterpieces’ and’Korean Traditional Song Singing Hanmadang’ and took measures to delete the related videos. Likewise, the claim that the production team used it even after knowing that it was a’Japanese surname’ is completely different.”

KBS added, “As a result, it is clear that the production team did not filter out the controversial elements in advance in all this process,” and added, “I deeply apologize once again for the inconvenience caused to viewers.” In addition, he expressed his apology to the Anaalchi Band.

Lastly, KBS emphasized, “The production team will make more meticulous efforts to prevent reoccurrence of such production mistakes through a more thorough preliminary inspection and inspection process in the future.”

Earlier in the’Chosun Pop Again’ aired on the 11th, suspicion was raised that the background image of the stage of’Yeonari’, which the band Inalchi showed, is similar to a Japanese style. Along with this, it was known that similar images were used in’Immortal Masterpieces’ and’Singing Korean Traditional Music Songs’, and controversy grew.
