On the 8th, the KBS Labor Union (union 1) accused KBS President Yang Seung-dong to the Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul for’embezzlement in business.’
This is the reason that Yang supported lawsuit costs against news reporters, etc., with public money in connection with the so-called “verbion collusion” misinformation that dealt with the close relationship between Prosecutor Han Dong-hoon and former Channel A reporter last year. Yang said that KBS provided 50 million won for legal support litigation expenses.

The KBS Labor Union side admitted that Yang was “work-related negligence” in relation to the’probate confusion’ at a state audit last year, and Prosecutor Han Dong-hoon also filed a lawsuit against reporters, claiming that it was embezzlement that provided public money for the cost.

According to the KBS Labor Union, the Supreme Court ruling is to determine whether or not a crime of embezzlement is established in the case of a corporate member’s litigation costs being spent with corporate funds. This is the case. Even the representatives of the group have restricted the cost of attorneys in civil and criminal cases in which the individual is a party to the group’s expense.’
Earlier, attorney Han filed a lawsuit for damages against eight people, including the head of the KBS press headquarters in August of last year, excluding KBS. This is because KBS, a tax-operated public broadcaster, spends money when he directly pays lawsuit costs and compensation for damages.

The union said, “50 million won is equivalent to the monthly subscription fee paid by 20,000 households,” and “However, KBS used this large amount to protect against false or distorted reports, and the act of spending it on law firms “It is true that there is no room for refutation even if you claim that KBS should be punished in accordance with criminal acts that result in loss of KBS finances operated by license fees.”
In addition to Yang’s president, they also accused Kook Eun-ju, head of the Strategic Planning Office, and Ryu Hae-nam, head of the legal department, on the same charges. The KBS labor union has the second largest number of members among the three unions in KBS, and has a tendency to be conservative.

KBS also refuted this.
KBS said, “According to the judgment cited by the union side,’if a legal dispute is deeply related to the organization and there is a special need to file a lawsuit or respond to a complaint for the benefit of the organization in the light of various circumstances at the time, There is also a content that says, “You can pay for the appointment of a lawyer as a cost,” he said. “We determined that it was necessary to respond to this lawsuit that occurred as a result of the fair business process, and accordingly, we were to pay the lawsuit fee.”
In addition, Article 33 of the Labor-Management Collective Agreement (Resolving Damages Litigation) states, “If a member of the union is suing a civil or criminal lawsuit in the process of performing a legitimate business, or if a disadvantage arises as a result, the KTO shall consult with the union to provide legal response and support. There is no problem because it stipulates that “I will do my best.” KBS said, “The labor union representing the employee took a problem with a company that tried to protect its members, declared that it would prosecute the police and distributed a press release. I’m sorry,” he said.
