KBO (Governor Ji-Taek Ji) judged that some players’ participation in sports Toto and illegal internet gambling was a serious issue that could threaten the foundation of the league, and made every effort to manage the clean baseball-related squad and prevent recurrence on the 15th. An official letter was sent to all clubs asking them to do so.

In order to practice clean baseball, KBO emphasized two key principles:’reinforcement of cheating regulations and effective education’.

In addition, KBO is planning to apply as strict as possible within the limits set by the relevant rules and regulations, based on the principle of punishment for personal punishment and white punishment emphasized by Governor Ji-Taek in his inauguration address as cheating and damage of dignity continue to occur within the league.

In particular, it plans to improve the effectiveness of the sanctions regulations by reorganizing incomplete regulations such as subdividing the sanction criteria and grounds for misconduct and specifying them in the rules and strengthening the authority of the KBO Investigation Committee.

During the spring camp, KBO is planning education on the subject of sports Toto participation, illegal (sports) gambling, drunk driving, game manipulation, sexual violence, and doping.

Due to the spread of Corona 19 last year, only non-face-to-face online training was conducted during the season, but as the entire club conducts field training in Korea this season, additional on-site training is planned for each club during the spring camp period under quarantine guidelines.

In addition, KBO cooperated with related organizations such as the Korea Professional Sports Association, Sports Toto Korea, the Korea Gambling Problem Management Center, the Korea Anti-Doping Committee, and the Korea Professional Baseball Players Association to supplement the quality of education with contents that are practically helpful to the players. It is a plan to improve and effectiveness.

This training is not only for athletes and club officials, but also for all KBO officials, including KBO employees and referees.

In addition, in cooperation with the Korean Baseball Softball Association (KBSA), Amaya baseball players will continue to receive sports ethics training from before joining the pros.

KBO Governor Ji-Taek Ji said, “If possible, conduct training on clean baseball before the start of the season, and when the regular season begins, communicate with players through the Clean Baseball homepage and application, consistent with the Ontact era, and continue to understand the importance of clean baseball. “We will do our best to reinforce policies and improve the system to prevent deviant behavior so that similar incidents and accidents can be prevented by delivering a message about it.”
