Shinsegae (tentative name, hereinafter referred to as Shinsegae) has become a new partner to share the new history of KBO.

KBO held a written meeting of the owners and unanimously approved the transfer of membership to Shinsegae on the 5th.

The subscription fee, which attracted attention, was set at 6 billion won after comprehensively reviewing changes in the value of the club.

KBO, the new family, Shinsegae, and each club expected the subscription fee to be a valuable grain for the development and future of the KBO League.

SK, which transferred the club, promised to donate 2.5 billion won for the development of Korean baseball and said a beautiful goodbye.

KBO decided that an urgent decision was necessary for the normal participation of Shinsegae’s pilot games and regular season, and decided to vote in writing at the owners’ general meeting.

The subscription fee was deliberated by the board of directors in accordance with Article 9 of the KBO Rules and then presented to the general meeting.

The decision was made at 6 billion won after a close review of past cases and comparisons, changes in club value, league expansion, and changes in the number of spectators. It was the only case that KIA paid 3 billion won when it took over Haitai in 2001 that the acquisition fee was imposed by a club that was not the foundation.

SK, which had transferred the club to Shinsegae, said goodbye to the KBO League, but expressed a donation plan of 2.5 billion won in hopes of contributing to the development of Korean baseball with a deep love for baseball. SK is the first time in the history of the KBO League to give up the club and make a donation for baseball.

KBO previously held a board meeting on the 2nd and deliberated on the application for approval of the transfer of membership to SK Wyverns and Shinsegae, and reviewed Shinsegae’s club operation plan and presented it to the general meeting.
