KB Finance selected Bloomberg Gender Equality Index for 3 consecutive years

[이코노믹리뷰=박창민 기자] KB Financial Group announced on the 28th that it was selected as a ‘2021 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI)’ company for the third consecutive year.

GEI is an index released by Bloomberg to inform investors of the status of ESG (environmental, social, governance) management of companies. We are conducting a survey of companies listed on the U.S. Stock Exchange with a market capitalization of more than $1 billion, ▲ female leadership and talent development ▲ equal pay and gender equality of wages ▲ inclusive culture ▲ sexual harassment policy ▲ training in a total of five areas, including female-friendly brands Equality policies and efforts are being evaluated.

This year’s 2021 Bloomberg Gender Equality Index selected 380 companies from 44 countries. A number of global companies such as KB Financial Group, Goldman Sachs, S&P, and Bank of America were included.

KB Financial Group, which is the first Korean financial holding company to have two female non-executive directors on the board of directors, is rapidly pursuing ESG management practices at the group level, including gender equality, centered on the ESG Committee. In addition, as an organization that officially supports the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), it is continuously expanding the spread of a culture of gender equality through tailored education to nurture female talents and middle-aged female talents.

It is also running specialized training courses for female talent, such as’WE (Womans Empowerment) STAR Mentoring’, a program to strengthen women’s leadership in the group,’KB In-house University Dream Campus’ of KB Insurance, and’Value-up Course’ of KB Securities. Efforts are also being made to expand female executives and establish the principle of ‘20% (department manager), 30% (team leader), 40% (team member)’, the proportion of female employees in the headquarters centered on KB Kookmin Bank.
