Kakao’s board chairman Kim Beom-soo, who recently declared that he would donate more than half of his assets worth over 10 trillion won, said he is using Microsoft founder Bill Gates as a role model.
Chairman Kim said this afternoon through an online conference in which 5,600 out of 10,000 bottles of Kakao affiliates participated.
Today’s conference was organized by Chairman Kim to collect in-house ideas about his property donation plan.
“The role model that will solve social problems is Bill Gates,” said Chairman Kim. “I started a business and created a foundation, but since I was the first to think that a company can do that, I started benchmarking.”
Bill Gates, together with his wife, created the Bill and Merlinda Gates Foundation to solve problems such as global disease, hunger, and poverty, so it was interpreted as remarks that Chairman Kim also has such a global foundation in mind. .
Chairman Kim emphasized that the donation, which will reach 5 trillion won, that he will donate, “is not a concept to keep it, but wants to write it right where it is needed.”
The fields that Chairman Kim is interested in are “people who are preparing for the future, people who have not been given opportunities due to the digital education gap, and artificial intelligence (AI) talents.”
Regarding the in-house evaluation system, which recently became a social controversy with the evaluation item’I don’t want to work with you’, Chairman Kim said, “There should never be an act of ignoring or harassing anyone in Kakao.” If so, you must correct it.”
Chairman Kim said, “This issue is that warning lights are lit in the corporate culture,” and “The company culture is revealed in how you react and apologize when you make a mistake.
We hope that the Kakao community will become a healthy organization.”
