EBay Korea distributed an investment prospectus (IM) to candidates for acquisition at the end of last month, and investment is being reviewed based on this.
It is known that eBay officially announced the sale of eBay Korea in January, and then offered 5 trillion won as an expected sale price. Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs, the organizers of the sale, are scheduled to hold a preliminary bidding on the 16th.
In the market, it is believed that eBay Korea’s high ransom is one of the leading retailers and Kakao.
Shinsegae has a variety of online distribution channels such as SSG.com, E-Mart, and E-Mart Traders, but it is not showing a strong presence in the open market. Therefore, the acquisition of eBay Korea is expected to become a company against Naver and Coupang.
Kakao’s subsidiary, Kakao Commerce, is developing businesses such as KakaoTalk shopping, gifting, and Kakao Makers. As of the end of last year, the number of users was 20 million to give gifts, 10 million to Talkstore, and 6 million to Makers. However, compared to KakaoTalk’s platform power, commerce is somewhat weak.
