The Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) said that 10 technologies for coping with novel coronavirus infections (Corona 19) developed by the faculty will be released to the public through the International Medical Equipment and Hospital Equipment Exhibition (KIMES 2021) held at COEX, Seoul on the 18th to 22nd. It was revealed on the 17th.

The’mobile negative pressure ward’, developed jointly by Shin Sung ENG by Professor Nam Taek-jin’s team of the Department of Industrial Design, is actually operated in the exhibition hall so that visitors can experience it directly.

In the same department, Professor Sangmin Bae’s team presents a kit that uses negative pressure devices to turn specific areas of the home into self-isolation spaces.

The’Smart Protective Suit Cooling Ventilation System’ by Professor Hyung-Soon Park of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, which has a significantly reduced weight compared to the existing protective clothing and has a cooling function, will also be exhibited.

The’real-time photothermal PCR system’ of Professor Ki-Hoon Jung’s team of the Department of Bio and Brain Engineering, which takes place from sample extraction to result derivation within 10 minutes, is a technology that is expected to be useful for on-site diagnosis of infectious diseases.

Professor Jong-cheol Ye’s team from the same department is demonstrating artificial intelligence software that can diagnose infectious diseases in less than one minute with only chest X-ray images.

In addition,’Medical Low Temperature Plasma Sterilizer’ by Professor Wonho Choi’s team in the Department of Nuclear and Quantum Engineering,’Negative Pressure Ambulance’ by Professor Seongsu Kim’s team in the Department of Mechanical Engineering,’negative pressure chamber and patient transfer device’ by Professor Haewon Park’s team in the same department, and ‘Mobile cyclone negative pressure pump’ and’nano fiber filter mask and nano fiber spinning machine’ by Professor Il-Doo Kim’s team in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering are also unveiled.

In KIMES 2021, more than 1,200 domestic and foreign companies are planning to showcase 30,000 technologies and products, including cutting-edge medical devices, hospital facilities, medical information systems, and healthcare.
