Reporter Ahn Kyung-nam = Ahead of the opening game of the K-League 1 in the 2021 season, managers and players from 12 teams threw out tickets online.
K-League 1 Opening Media Day was held online on the afternoon of the 22nd. According to the opening round matchup this weekend, two teams appeared at a time, revealing their determination and feelings about the opening game this season.
From the official opening game of Jeonbuk Hyundai and FC Seoul, which will be held at 2 pm on the 27th at Jeonju World Cup Stadium, the nervous battle of both teams attracted attention.
First of all, after retiring from Jeonbuk, coaching and leading the promotion to Gwangju FC in 2019 with coach Kim Sang-sik, who took the baton of’defending champion’ Jeonbuk ahead of this season, and last season’s final A (1st to 6th place) advancement to Seoul this season. Director Park Jin-seop, who was appointed to the company, held a talk-to-mouth battle without concessions.
The two have a relationship that played together at Seongnam Ilhwa (currently Seongnam FC) from 2005 to 2008 when they were active roles.
Coach Kim said, “This game is my debut, so I’ll be grateful if manager Kim does a little bit,” Park replied, “Because they are both debut games, I can’t give up.”
As a result, Director Kim immediately put a headlight, saying, “We do it at our house! At our home!” Director Park said, “It’s the opening game! I will never give up!”

The captains of both teams also engaged in a nervous war without concessions.
Defender Hong Jeong-ho, who became Jeonbuk’s’captain’ this season, said, “We will not be able to deliver’courier delivery’ in the opening game,” as if he was conscious of a recent post by Ki Sung-yong on his social network service (SNS) saying, “We will resume delivery this year. I will.”
In response to Hong Jung-ho’s provocation, Seoul’s captain Ki Sung-yong said, “Hong Jung-ho was a lot bigger in location than before. I have nothing to dare to talk about about his skills.”
Ki Sung-yong, who was unable to demonstrate his proper skills due to injury after returning in July of last year, pledged his performance for the new season, saying, “I trained for the past six weeks without getting burned. I am in better shape than I expected.”
Coach Hong Myung-bo, who is challenging the K-League stage for the first time as Ulsan coach this season, will make his debut against Gangwon FC at the home stadium of Ulsan Munsu Stadium at 2 pm on the 1st of next month.
Director Hong said, “I know that I am the oldest manager, but I am very impressed,” he said. “I did not beat Jeonbuk last season, so I won second place. This season, a face-to-face victory is very important.”
This is Ulsan, who spent a busy transfer market last winter. Junio of’the scorer’, Lee Geun-ho, Shin Jin-ho, and Park Joo-ho left, and Lee Dong-jun, Kim Ji-hyun, Shin Hyeong-min, and Hinter Je-Jeon joined.
Manager Hong said, “It wasn’t easier to protect the existing players than to recruit new players. We talked with them and talked about our sincerity, and we shared perfectly with each other.”

Regarding Kangwon, director Kim Byeong-soo, known as’Byeongsu Ball’, he said, “It’s a good team led by an excellent manager,” but “It’s my role to try to win Ulsan.”
Pohang Steelers coach Kim Ki-dong and Incheon United coach Seong-hwan Sung, who are facing each other at 2 pm on the 28th at Pohang Steel Yard, also showed their willingness to win the opening game with stimulating departure tickets.
When coach Kim said, “(Incheon hasn’t won the opening game for 7 years), Jinx doesn’t break easily. I will definitely grab Incheon at home and prepare for the next game.” Manager Cho said, “I have never lost the opening game since I started coaching. I will also win against Pohang.”
On the other hand, this media day, which was held online non-face-to-face to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19), caused fans’ dissatisfaction with the unsmooth progression, such as frequent disconnection of the site.
When Daegu FC and Suwon FC managers and players came out, the screen was cut off several times, and some managers such as Gwangju FC manager Kim Ho-young and Seongnam FC Kim Nam-il could not communicate their voices properly.
In addition, as questions were limited only to the opening match face-to-face, we could not hear the answer to the issue that penetrated the entire league.
