In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Hyundai Group’s honorary chairman Chung Ju-young, the Hyundai family revealed the interior of the Cheongundong home in Jongno-gu, Seoul, where the deceased stayed for the first time. While the interior of his home in Cheongdong was opened to the public for the first time, academia continued to seek to learn his entrepreneurial spirit.
On the evening of the 20th, one day before Honorary Chairman Chung’s 20th anniversary, a ritual was held at the old home of Cheongun-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
On the day of the memorial service, Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Eui-sun Eui-sun, the eldest son of Honorary Chairman Chung, appeared first with his wife. Afterwards, six sons, Chung Mong-jun, chairman of the Asan Foundation, seven sons, Chung Mong-yoon, chairman of Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance, and eight sons, Chung Mong-il, chairman of Hyundai M Partners, also arrived. Halla Group Chairman Chung Mong-won, the nephew of Honorary Chairman Chung, HDC Group Chairman Chung Mong-gyu, and daughter-in-law Hyun Jeong-eun Chairman of Hyundai Group were also present. Unlike last year, they are known to have held ceremonies in different time zones, taking into account the atmosphere of the spread of Corona 19 and guidelines for quarantine this year. Senior Citizen Chung Mong-koo, honorary chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, did not attend this year following last year.
On this day, in commemoration of Honorary Chairman Chung’s 20th anniversary, the inside of his home in Cheongundong, where he stayed, was first disclosed to the media. Next to the ancestral statue on the 1st floor, Ms. Han Sung-sil, the mother of Honorary Chairman Chung, was hung, and on the left wall was the Yeongjeong of Honorary Chairman Chung and his wife Jung-seok Byeon.
On the quarry in the yard, there is Yangsan Dongcheon, meaning’a place where the sun is well and the scenery is beautiful enough to live in’, and’Namgeoyugeo,’ meaning the house where Jang Ho-jin, who lives in South Korea. It was engraved. Nam-geo Jang Ho-jin was known to have earned the trust of Empress Gojong and Empress Myeongseong as a man who served as Namyang County head of military service during Gojong.
Meanwhile, 20 years have passed since the death of the founder of Hyundai Group, Asan Jung Ju-young, who laid the foundation for the development of the Korean industry with an indomitable spirit of challenge, but Asan’s management philosophy is being re-examined in academia. Professor Lee Byung-tae of KAIST Graduate School of Techno Management said, “Great entrepreneurs such as Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos change the world.” Professor Lee added, “Chairman Chung broke through resource constraints and created an export-oriented business with creative ideas.”
Professor Lee Kyung-mook of Seoul National University Graduate School of Business said, “Chairman Chung made new attempts and innovated business beyond the way people thought it was.” I realized what I thought was impossible,” he explained.
However, in order to produce the’second Jung Ju-young’ in Korea, it was also reprimanded that the policy direction of unilateral regulation, such as the 3rd Corporate Regulation Act and the Act on the Penalty of Serious Accidents, should be reviewed.
