[이데일리 스타in 김현식 기자] While the SBS drama’Chosun-gu Masa’ was abolished in the aftermath of the controversy over the setting of’Chinese oriented’ and history distortion, Yubi Yoo, following actor Jang Dong-yoon, also expressed apology.
In a long apology posted on his SNS on the 27th, Lee Yoo-bi took luck saying, “I want to post a remark of reflection that made many people uncomfortable because of this incident.” In addition, he said, “I ask for your understanding of the delay as I tried to post after the situation on the drama side was cleared up.”
Lee Yoo-bi said, “This work was a work I met at a time when I was personally contemplating a lot.” He said, “It was the time when I thought about what role I should play in the future and what I can do, and I wanted to try new things and achieve them one by one.”

‘Choseongu Masa’ is a fusion historical drama featuring a Korean exorcism fantasy that depicts the bloody struggle of humans to protect the people and evil spirits who try to consume the Joseon by using human desires. Lee Yoo-bi took on the role of Eo-ri, a character set as’Chosun Edition Femme Fatal’.
In the first episode of the drama, which aired on the 22nd earlier, Chinese-style small items such as moon cake appeared in the scene where Chungnyeong Daegun (Jang Dong-yoon) served a Western Kuma priest (Dalsey Parquet). Shaman Mu Hwa (Jeong Hye-sung) came out in Chinese style. Afterwards, the opinions of viewers who pinpointed the setting of the’Chinese scent’ over this were struck. Some pointed out that the descriptions of Taejong (Gam Woosung), Yangnyeongdaegun (Park Seonghun), and Chungnyeongdaegun were far from actual history.
As the controversy grew, SBS made an official position on the 26th and said, “In recognition of the seriousness of this situation, we decided to terminate the contract to purchase the broadcasting rights for’Chosun-gu Masa’ and cancel the broadcast.” Production companies YG Studioplex, Crabworks, and Lotte Culture Works said, “The production was also stopped after SBS was canceled. We will do our best to minimize the damage to the staff and the people involved in the work, recognizing the seriousness of the situation,” he bowed his head.
Jang Dong-yoon, who posted an apology earlier than Lee Yoo-bi, said, “I looked at the work only from the standpoint of an actor who plays the creation. I overlooked the part that should be looked at socially. It’s a big mistake,” he bowed his head.
