Representatives of the ruling and opposition parties held a meeting ahead of the opening of the extraordinary National Assembly on February 1. Meanwhile, Chairman Park and the heads of both parties agreed to donate this year’s increase in the allowance for members of the National Assembly (about 7,300 won per month), Han Min-soo, a public congressman, said at a briefing.
When all members of the National Assembly donate the increase in allowance, it amounts to about 270 million won.
Chairman Park also delivered a letter to the 17 standing chairpersons, saying, “Please observe the national petition review period in order to guarantee the citizens’ right to petition,” he called for the relevant efforts.
