In relation to the Myanmar incident, in which more than 550 deaths were caused by the military coup, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced that it is the first international issue to produce instrumental education materials for students and distribute them to school sites. Regarding the suspicion of Cho Min, the daughter of former Justice Minister Cho Kook, and responding to Hanyoung Foreign Language High School, where Cho graduated, he said, “It is a sensitive issue ahead of the re-election and by-election.”

At a press conference held at the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education in Jongno-gu, Seoul on the 6th, Superintendent Cho said, “Looking at the Myanmar situation, I was thinking about what can be done even indirectly in terms of education for students who should be raised as democratic citizens of the world.”

The City Office of Education produced an instrumental education material titled’Waiting for the Spring of Myanmar,’ consisting of PPT, workbook, and teacher’s commentary, and posted it on the Seoul Multicultural Education Support Center homepage that day. Classes can be conducted with related materials at the discretion of the school. It is produced in two levels for the upper and lower grades, and in addition to Korean, Chinese and English versions are also provided.

It is the first time that an international issue has become the subject of instrument education. Superintendent Cho said, “The Myanmar incident in which the massacre of hundreds of people took place is a response to the Gwangju massacre for us, and we can see it with sympathy.”

Regarding the fact that the City Office of Education did not provide instrumental education during the Hong Kong democracy movement in 2019, Superintendent Cho said, “There is nothing that cannot be dealt with the Hong Kong issue. However, it can be used as a topic of various political and social discussions such as’What is democracy?’ I see.”

In relation to the alleged fraudulent admission of Cho Min, the daughter of former Justice Minister Cho Kook, he avoided an immediate answer to the allegations of Cho’s alma mater, Hanyoung Foreign Language High School. Mr. Cho is suspected of having a career as an intern at Dankook University and Gongju University and putting it in the high school life record book.

On the other hand, regarding the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19), the rate of vaccination consent of faculty and staff came out as low as 68.3%. In addition, the’Educational Guardian System Pilot Project’ is also conducted to attach guardians to children who are difficult to learn normally due to Corona 19. First, they spend 300 million won to train 30 guardians.
