While the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) was caught up in controversy over the’land speculation’ of its employees, owners of the Dongja-dong side of the village, where the public housing district project was promoted, held a rally against development.

On the 8th, the Dongja-dong Residents’ Countermeasures Committee held a demonstration in front of the LH Yongsan Special Headquarters holding a picket with phrases such as’Anti against association of public housing projects that rob private property’ and’Byeon Chang-heum OUT’ for speculative construction. The Dongja-dong Residents’ Countermeasures Committee is an organization composed of Dongja-dong Jikbangchon and the owners of land and buildings in the area.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced the Dongja-dong public housing district project last month, and announced that it will re-establish existing residents of Byeonbangchon in public rental housing by constructing 2410 units (1450 public housing units, 960 units for private sales) on 47,000m2 in the area of ​​Seoul Station. The implementation of this project is LH and Seoul Housing and Urban Corporation (SH).

An official from the Countermeasures Committee said, “The proportion of gangbang villages among Dongja-dong public housing districts is less than 20%.”

Another official said, “It turns out that LH itself is a group stained with unclean land speculation. How can we entrust the development?” “Our position is to withdraw public projects and do private development.”

In order to cancel the public housing district project, they plan to hold a one-person demonstration by submitting civil complaints to the Blue House, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Seoul City, and Yongsan-gu.
