Jeongeup City creates a clean city by supplying new and renewable energy!

Selected 150 households, promoted a project to support residential solar installation costs

Jeongeup City is taking the lead in spreading clean energy by expanding the supply of new and renewable energy.

The city has actively participated in the new and renewable energy supply project that the government has implemented so far, and is promoting the new and renewable energy housing support project by investing about 150 million won this year.

The new and renewable energy housing support project is being promoted as the 7th publicly elected pledge to expand the supply of new and renewable energy in line with the government’s nuclear power plant and’renewable energy 3020′ policy.

It is a project to install facilities such as solar or geothermal heat in detached or public houses through the Korea Energy Agency and provide partial support for installation costs.

This year, it plans to select and support a total of 150 households, and the installation cost of solar power (3 kW) is KRW 5,200,000, of which 70% will be subsidized by the Korea Energy Agency and the city.

The city explained that installing 3kW solar power could save about 40,000 won for households that cost about 60,000 won a month.

In addition, when there is more electricity produced by solar power than electricity consumption, the remaining electricity is recorded in KEPCO and is deducted from the electricity bill for the month when the electricity consumption is high.

Applications for the project will be applied to the Corporation on a first-come, first-served basis through the participating companies after the Korea Energy Agency’s project announcement in March, and the candidates will be selected and supported in May.

It is expected that this support project will greatly contribute to the convenience of life of local residents as well as economic help through the effect of reducing electricity bills.

A city official said, “Because new and renewable energy uses natural power as a power source, there is no burden for fuel costs.”

Meanwhile, the city subsidized over 142 million won to 139 single-family and public housing units last year to support the installation of new and renewable energy facilities such as solar power.
