Hong Jeong-wook (50), a former member of the Grand National Party (now the power of the people), has raised the rumors of return to politics. Rep. Hong said on the 28th, posting a post on the website, “If my personality and competencies are in line with the spirit and business environment of the times, I have to go ahead myself. If not, I have to select a suitable leader and entrust the work.”

He said, “The condition of a leader is determined by the times, not individuals. The times require revolutionaries or managers, sometimes the elite or the common people, and sometimes the young or the elderly. The same goes for management,” he said. “But it is impossible for one person to have all the leadership. You must constantly study and evolve, but you must not keep your place like a chameleon.

In the article, Congressman Hong recalled his achievements one by one. “When I took over, the Herald was a company with a major shareholder but no owner. “I was running out of money almost every year for 50 years and ran out of money, but costs were leaking everywhere,” he said. “I cut costs without delay and sharpened my organization and distribution network.”

Rep. Hong said, “I wasn’t in a hurry, but because I was an unverified young owner, I needed to show a firm side. Preparing in advance is considered prudent, and hesitation after death is called indecision. When I made a decision, whether it was right or wrong, I immediately took action.”

He also discussed his days as a lawmaker. He said, “I witnessed the Blue House, which took control of the government and the National Assembly, pushing the daily policy quickly. The National Assembly has become a mess with hammer quality and struggles.” “The performance of management is more important than the process, but the process of politics overwhelmed the performance. Sometimes’how do you do it’ was more important than’what you do.’

Rep. Hong, who left the council and took over as chairman of the food company Organica, said, “For the growth of Organica, we had to learn’smart’ leadership, not’fast’ or’right’. I didn’t want my employees to work harder. I wanted to achieve greater results by focusing only on what was necessary.”

He said, “The focus was on efficiency management where all employees set three priorities and focus on them,” he said. “If I ask my employees to do new things that I can’t resist the temptation to do,’What should I take out of the three priorities I’m doing?’ I made him ask,” he said.

He said, “Life without a goal is like a ship floating in the vast sea without a map. Those who have a clear goal advance even in the storm, and those who do not drift even in the wind. My goal was smart management.”

Former Congressman Hong served as the 18th GNP lawmaker and the chairman of the media company Herald. Currently, he is the chairman of the eco-friendly food company, Olganica, and the chairman of the corporate judicial corporation Oljae. He is also a director of the World Nature Fund Korea Headquarters, National Museum of Korea, and Choout Rosemary Hall.
