Police Commissioner Kim Chang-ryong acknowledged the responsibility of the police in relation to the’Jung In-i case’, which was killed by the abuse of his adoptive parents, and lowered his head once again on the 7th following the Civil Apology the previous day.

Commissioner Kim attended an emergency questionnaire on the National Assembly’s Administrative Safety Committee on that day and once again apologized, saying, “I feel a deep sense of responsibility as the chief officer of the police.” He said, “The police and public officials who are dispatched to the field first need to have expertise and accountability to identify any signs in advance, but there are still insufficient aspects,” he said, “I will improve this.”

The ruling and opposition lawmakers criticized the police officers for their poor initial response and investigation into child abuse. Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Min-cheol mentioned the fact that the police could not distinguish between the bruise caused by the abuse of her adoptive parents on the body of Jung In-yang and the Mongolian spot and ended the internal investigation, and pointed out, “Does it make sense to distinguish between the Mongolian spot and the bruise?” . Responding to this, Commissioner Kim replied, “It is regrettable that I believed in the arguments of the guardians too easily.”

Regarding the question of “Is the police willing to re-investigate the case,” Commissioner Kim said, “Unless there are special circumstances in the case that the police sent to the prosecution in the current legal system, re-investigation is difficult.” Answered. He added, “This case is prosecuted by the prosecution and the trial is in progress,” adding that it is difficult to re-investigate if no new evidence or facts are found.

Commissioner Kim also said, “There is a side that is quite difficult to judge only from the circumstances that are exposed on the field, and since the report occurs long after the abuse has occurred, it is detailed so that the police can have the authority to view the past treatment records. I will take measures to do it.”
