The candidates for the April 27 Seoul Mayor’s re-election by the Open Democratic Party will be decided in the primary by Kim Jin-ae, a former member of the National Assembly.

On the 12th, the Democratic Party Nomination Management Committee announced that it had finally confirmed the candidates’ eligibility screening and their willingness to run, and finally confirmed the candidates for the re-election of Seoul as preliminary candidates. The Busan Mayor’s re-election is scheduled to be nominated for strategy by recruiting talent by the 29th.

The two will attend the one-on-one debate on the 1st of the following month and the Kwanhoon debate on the 4th. The party members will vote for four days from the 5th and the final candidate will be confirmed on the 9th.

Kim Won-nae said, “In the situation of being a woman and a political rookie, an additional point is necessary, but due to the weight of the head of a regional organization, the female additional point is unnecessary,” the Nomination Management Committee said.

On the other hand, on the 27th, lawmaker Jeong Jeon is about to be sentenced to a second trial for a case related to alleged sexual harassment. The prosecution believed that the former legislator Jeong defied the reputation of reporters and victims by speaking as if Pressian’s report on his alleged sexual harassment was intentionally fabricated. However, the first trial was acquitted, saying, “It seems insufficient to admit sexual harassment only by statements.” Seoul High Court Criminal Division 6 will proceed with the sentence of the former lawmaker Jung at 2:30 pm on the 27th. The prosecution asked former lawmaker Jeong to imprisonment for 10 months and a fine of 2 million won.
