K-League 1 defending champion Jeonbuk Hyundai, who was seeking to sign midfielder Baek Seung-ho (23, Darmstadt), announced the suspension. Suwon Samsung’s side, which revealed that there was a’return agreement’ in the past, showed a cautious response to Baek Seung-ho’s recruitment, saying, “We are in trouble.”

Jeonbuk signed Seung-ho Baek, who played an active part in the German Bundesliga 2 ahead of the 2021 season. Jeonbuk coach Kim Sang-sik also expressed interest that “if Baek Seung-ho joins, it can be used as a side resource as well as Jungwon.”

In fact, Jeonbuk requested a status inquiry for Baek Seung-ho through the Korea Professional Football Federation, and received a reply from the Spanish Football Association saying that “the professional contract has exceeded 5 years”. Jeonbuk was accelerating the recruitment by discussing specific transfer fees with Darmstadt.

However, it became a problem as it was belatedly known that Baek Seung-ho received support with Suwon before leaving for the Spain Barcelona youth team.

Baek Seung-ho received 300 million won of support each year from Suwon for three years as a condition of attending Maetango before studying in Barcelona in 2010.

However, he is known to have made a second agreement with the Barcelona youth team that made it difficult for him to go to Maetango after signing a five-year contract with the Barcelona youth team, and’I promise to join Suwon unconditionally when returning to the K-League’.

A Jeonbuk official said in a call with News 1 on the 22nd, “(Baek Seung-ho) was not negotiated first, and there was a provision that he had to return to Suwon unconditionally. There is no reason to shake the basis of the K-League. If so, I wouldn’t have tried to sign it.

Furthermore, a Jeonbuk official emphasized that “in fact, the recruitment was stopped” and added, “If Baek Seung-ho came to the K League, wouldn’t we have to go to Suwon. Now we have left our hands.”

Suwon, who said that if Baek Seung-ho joins Jeollabuk-do, the legal dispute would be immortal, fell into trouble when Jeonbuk gave up recruiting. To bring Baek Seung-ho, you have to pay a transfer fee to Darmstadt and pay a considerable annual salary.

An official from Suwon said in the phone call that day, “I saw the report that Jeonbuk is not signing a contract with Baek Seung-ho.”

Suwon plans to meet with Baek Seung-ho’s father and conduct negotiations sooner or later.

An official from Suwon said, “It would be nice if it was decided as soon as possible, but I will consider it well.”
