Japan has entered into force a corona 19 emergency across the archipelago for 49 days from April 7 to May 25 last year.

The number of new confirmed cases per day decreased significantly from earlier this year.

On January 8th, the re-emergence of this year’s emergency, there were 7,949 new cases a day (based on NHK counts), and on the 17th of this month there were 1,535.

However, considering the fact that there were hundreds of confirmed cases per day when the emergency was first issued in April last year, the spread of the infection itself is still more serious than at the time.

As spring outings are expected to become active and crowds are expected for various events such as entrance and graduation ceremonies, there are also concerns that the spread of Corona 19 infection may accelerate again.

According to Kyodo News, Prime Minister Suga told the House of Representatives Steering Committee to refrain from drinking parties attended by the majority, saying, “It is very important for the people to continue to respond with tension to prevent the re-proliferation of infection.”

The governors of the four metropolitan areas, including Tokyo, where the emergency is canceled this afternoon, held a video conference and agreed to delay the closing time of pubs from the current 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. from the current 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. .
