In Japan, the overall vaccination schedule has been delayed due to delays in the supply of vaccines for novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) and procrastination in securing special syringes for vaccines.

According to the local public broadcaster NHK on the 24th, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga announced on the same day that the corona19 vaccination for elderly people is scheduled to begin on April 12.

He explained to reporters in the Prime Minister’s Office that the vaccine for senior citizens would be sent to local governments in the week that includes April 5, and the vaccination would begin on this schedule.

The initiation of vaccination for senior citizens, announced by Prime Minister Suga, is to be given to senior citizens in a limited quantity, and full-scale vaccination for senior citizens will take place later.

According to Kyodo News, the Minister in charge of Vaccination, Taro Kono, in charge of Administrative Reform, announced that full-fledged vaccinations to elderly people will begin in the week that includes April 26th.

Originally, the Japanese government aimed to start vaccination for the elderly after April 1, but as the supply of the vaccine is delayed, the vaccination schedule seems to be delayed than previously expected.

It is reported that the Japanese government requested that Poonglim Pharmatech, a Korean company, supply about 80 million syringes because it was not able to properly secure a special syringe that can be inoculated six times with one Pfizer vaccine.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Suga announced that he will open an expert advisory committee on the 26th to determine whether the Corona 19 emergency, which is currently in effect in 10 metropolitan local governments, will be lifted early in some areas.

There is a possibility that the emergency will be lifted by the end of this month in six regions, including Osaka and Kyoto.

However, the Japanese government is expected to maintain an emergency situation until the 7th of next month as originally scheduled for the four metropolitan local governments including Tokyo.

According to the local public broadcaster NHK on the 24th, 921 new confirmed cases of Corona 19 in Japan were identified as of 7:40 pm on the day. As a result, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Japan increased to 4,29,088. The death toll increased by 69 to 7,685.
