Even if the audience size for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics is expected to be confirmed early, it is expected to be confirmed only in May. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) plans to decide on a policy related to the spectator position after watching the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) in Japan for as long as possible.

Japan’s Yomiuri Shimbun delivered the news of the re-election of IOC Chairman Thomas Bach on the 11th, saying, “The acceptance and size of the Tokyo Olympic spectators will be decided between May and June.”

It is heard that the acceptance of foreign audiences will be decided at the end of this month, but in the end, Chairman Bach is read with the thought of making the decision as late as possible.

The Yomiuri Shimbun said, “Chairman Bach said,’If possible, we will look at it from May to June and determine the size of the Olympic audience.”

Earlier, Seiko Hashimoto, chairman of the Olympic Organizing Committee, mentioned the possibility of unattended attendance.

The spread of Corona 19 around the world remains unabated, and there is still a high risk of infection due to the outbreak of a new mutant virus. According to NHK on the 11th, the number of new corona 19 confirmed in Japan is 1316, which is concerned about the 4th pandemic.
