Japanese Foreign Minister “Reconfirmed the Importance of US-Korea Cooperation with the US Secretary of State”

[아시아경제 구채은 기자] US Secretary of State Tony Blincoln, who is visiting Japan, reaffirmed the importance of trilateral cooperation in relation to North Korea policy at a bilateral meeting with Japanese Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu on the 16th.

According to the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and NHK, Foreign Minister Motegi said at a press conference held on the same day after meeting with Blincoln, “reaffirming the importance of close cooperation between Japan and the United States.”

Foreign Minister Motegi said, “We agreed to cooperate closely to realize the complete denuclearization of North Korea according to the resolution of the (UN) Security Council.”

Foreign Minister Motegi added, “We demanded continued understanding and cooperation for the early resolution of the abduction problem (Japanese by North Korea) and received strong support from Minister Blincoln.”
