According to the Asahi Shimbun on the 29th, Rep. Hata contacted the National Assembly clinic through his secretary on the morning of the 24th and said, “There are no symptoms yet, but a person in the nearby space has been tested positive for Corona 19.” He said he called the hospital.

That night, the fever rose to 38.6 degrees, and on the 25th, a PCR test was scheduled at a private medical institution in Tokyo via the Internet. However, the earliest time the test was possible was on the 27th, two days later, and the reservation was made at 3:45 pm that day.

While waiting for the examination, the condition quickly deteriorated. On the morning of the 25th, the fever dropped to 36.5 degrees and then rose again to 38.3 degrees that night, and it was 37.5 degrees in the morning of the 26th and 38.2 degrees at night. On the morning of the 27th, while the fever fell to 36.1 degrees Celsius, while riding in the secretary’s car to undergo a PCR test, the condition suddenly changed and complained of difficulty breathing. Afterwards, he said he lost consciousness for the last time, saying, “Is it pneumonia?”

The secretary called an ambulance and was immediately transported to a hospital attached to the University of Tokyo, but was found dead at 4:34 pm. He had already died before arriving at the hospital, medical staff said. Afterwards, the corona 19 test was positive.

Clinic Hata, the 5th member of the House of Councilors, suffered from high blood pressure, hyperlipidemia, and diabetes, but he was in good shape and had been actively engaged in various meetings until the 23rd. Japanese media reported that the people around them, who were shocked by the news of the death, expressed regret, saying, “Even if you were tested one day early.”

Nikki Yoshihito, a visiting professor at Showa University, told the support newsletter, “Even in your 50s, if you have a chronic disease such as diabetes, there is a high risk of corona 19 becoming severe.” “Politicians who need to contact multiple people “There is a high risk of infecting others, so if symptoms appear, you should get tested as soon as possible.”

As the first member of the National Assembly to die from Corona 19, an emergency took place in the Japanese politics. The Yomiuri Shimbun reported that Congressman Masahar Nakagawa and House of Representatives Shinji Morimoto, who sat next to Congressman Hata, at the standing committee of the Constitutional Democratic Party held on the 22nd, also had PCR tests, the Yomiuri Shimbun reported. At a regional meeting held in Nagano City on the 23rd, two members of the National Assembly who had contact with Congressman Hata were also tested on the 28th.

Representative Yukio Edano of the Constitutional Democratic Party said on the 28th, “I am really sorry for the loss of a valuable colleague,” and “I once again felt the fear of Corona 19.” There is no separate funeral at the party level, and plans to hold a memorial event hosted by the party in the future, the Constitutional Democratic Party said.
