Japan will start vaccination against coronavirus infection-19 (Corona 19) tomorrow, on the 17th.

As in other countries, the first vaccination targets are medical workers who are at the forefront of quarantine and are in contact with corona19 confirmed patients and who must also perform vaccination missions. It is 40,000 people. The vaccine product to be vaccinated is Pfizer vaccine.

At a press conference that afternoon, Taro Kono announced the news of the start of vaccination and future schedules.

The Japanese government will start vaccination for 3.7 million medical workers from mid-March, and 36 million elderly people 65 years or older from April 1, following the 40,000 medical workers subject to prior vaccination.

Next, vaccinations are conducted for 8.2 million people with underlying diseases and 2 million employees at facilities for the elderly.

The Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare approved the use of the Pfizer vaccine for the first time in Japan on the 14th, and that day, 200,000 Pfizer vaccines (400,000 vaccinations) arrived in Japan by air. Additional Pfizer vaccines are expected to enter Japan next week.

Japan receives a total supply of 72 million Pfizer vaccines. In addition, 60 million AstraZeneca vaccines and 20 million modal vaccines will be supplied. This is an amount that exceeds Japan’s total population of 127 million.

On the other hand, Korea will begin vaccination of AstraZeneca for 270,000 people under the age of 65, including nursing hospital workers, from the 26th. Next, by March, the first vaccination of 760,000 people, including medical staff in large hospitals, corona 19 response personnel, and medical staff in charge of corona 19 treatment, is planned to be completed.
