The number of new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) in Japan exceeded 1,000 for three consecutive days.

According to local public broadcaster NHK on the 18th, 1,499 new confirmed cases of Corona 19 in Japan on that day were identified by 6:20 pm.

Accordingly, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Japan increased to 453,000,483.

The death toll increased by 32 to 8,777.

The number of new confirmed cases in Japan per day surpassed 1,000 for three consecutive days.

The number of new confirmed patients on the 18th was 182 (13.8%) more than a week ago.

In the midst of this, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga announced the corona 19 emergency in effect in four metropolitan local governments, including Tokyo, Saitama, Kanagawa, and Chiba prefectures. It was decided on this day to release the 21st as the end.

Accordingly, Japan’s Corona 19 emergency will end in about 70 days.

On the other hand, Yoshihiro Murai, Governor of Miyagi Prefecture and Mayor Kazuko Kori, Sendai Mayor, held a press conference on the same day, saying that the number of corona19 confirmed in the hall has increased, and announced an emergency declaration independently, Kyodo News said.

However, emergencies based on the Act on Special Measures for Countermeasures such as New Influenza (hereinafter referred to as the Special Measures Act) are to be declared by the Prime Minister, and the emergencies declared by Governor Murai and Mayor Gori can be seen as a kind of political declaration that is not based on laws.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government issued an order to shorten business hours in accordance with the Special Provisions Act for 27 restaurants that refused to request a reduction in business hours to close their business at 8 p.m. during the corona 19 emergency.

This is the first time that an actual order has been issued based on the revision of the Special Regulations Act so that it can issue an order to shorten sales.

If the order is not followed, a fine of not more than 300,000 yen (approximately 3100,000 won) can be imposed.
