Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong presided over a meeting of the president’s team in the set division at Samsung Research in Umyeon-dong, Seoul on the 6th, and reviewed mid- to long-term strategies for the future, such as next-generation 6G communication (6G) technology and artificial intelligence (AI) R&D status.
The contents reported at the meeting were △the progress of next-generation communication technology research △security of server technology △the application status of AI technology products. The meeting was attended by Hyunsuk Kim, Head of Household Appliances (CE), Dongjin Ko, Head of IT and Mobile (IM), Yunho Choi, Head of Management Support Department, Sebastian Seung, Head of Samsung Research Research Institute, and Presidents of Each Business Unit.

Vice Chairman Lee visited the Pyeongtaek foundry (consigned semiconductor production) plant in Gyeonggi Province on the 4th of the new year to check the system semiconductor business. On the 6th, the 3rd day of the on-site inspection, Samsung Research presided over a meeting to develop advanced technologies. Samsung Electronics explained that it is to secure future growth engines in the post-corona era.
Samsung Research, which Vice Chairman Lee visited on this day, has △Global AI Center △Next Generation Communication Research Center △Software Innovation Center, etc. It is an organization that is in charge of research and development on prior technologies in future promising fields. Currently, in the field of AI, research on functional innovation of smartphones, TVs, and home appliances incorporating AI is being conducted. In the next-generation communication field, research on 6G core technologies is being conducted.
