If you’ve played’Monster Hunter World’ for a long time, you’ll be proud of yourself as a pro hunter. They defeated Mammtarot and Mupetoziba, and also defeated Rajan, a super super Saiyan. Based on this, from the Albatrion, who suffered from powerful hunters who grew up, to the Black Dragon, Milaboreas, who really made them scream, to the king of reversals. If the hunters who have overcome this, are they really the blue stars of the new continent who have already fallen in love with the charm of’Monster Hunter’?

Of course, I also enjoyed’Monster Hunter World’ really happily while hunting the Black Dragon Milaboreas. Therefore, I had no choice but to pay attention to this new work,’Monster Hunter Rise’. You will have the pleasure of hunting new monsters that you haven’t seen in the world and only Monster Hunter Ryze. And I don’t know how long I’ve waited for 2021 to hear that a trial version will be released in January.

And in January, I thought that news would come only until the end of January, but very quickly’Monster Hunter Rise’ came to us. The actual distribution is on January 8th, but it was released earlier than this for the media, giving the opportunity to play first. Of course, I didn’t want to miss it, and I applied for and met the newly changed’Monster Hunter’.

First of all, I think I should give priority to explaining the demo version of Monster Hunter Rise I played. This special trial version is a version in which you can play the trial version of’Monster Hunter Rise’ scheduled to be released on January 8. The number of quests you can play was limited to 30, and you could not see the skills or specifications of the set equipment.

There are two maps, and there are a total of 4 large monsters that can be seen. Aoisara, and Rio Leia and Tamamitsune, a popular monster in the series, are the first in this series. The actual quest was able to win orders to defeat Osaizuchi and Tamamitsune. The number of times was deducted even if the game was ended or failed during the quest.

  • The same specifications as the demo build released on January 7th, but there may be differences in practice. Based on this, I would like to share my experience of playing in advance. Unlike the previous work that was unfolded on a stationary console and PC,’Monster Hunter Rise’, which returned to the game for portable devices, definitely gave a refreshing and enjoyable experience, but there were some personal concerns.

    As’Monster Hunter Rise’ is released as a portable device, it can be seen that the direction of action has also changed. The feeling of continuing the action genealogy of’Double Cross’ is stronger than the feeling of connecting the world’s genealogy. Of course, the Monster Hunter World Series also showed double cross action, but Rise has a stronger tendency. The action shown by a rope bug is also a feeling of recycling the actions shown by the’brave’ system in the past.

    With the change of basic action and linkage, the weapons used by the hunter certainly faced a change. Everyone can feel it while hunting while using various actions. In the world, in the action of the weapons shown in Iceborne, there is a great direction that the use is inconvenient or the weaknesses are compensated.

    For example, the Great Sword, Lance, and Heavy Bowgun have improved mobility, which was the most uncomfortable, making it very easy to hit and fall and catch up with monsters. Charge Ax, Gun Lance, and Attitude gained quick gauge (bottle) charge, sharpness recovery, improved mobility, and more, and firepower was further reinforced.

    Cho Choong-gon was able to move brilliantly in the air once more, and the hunting flute became a powerful weapon that showed sufficient firepower, convenience to play, and damage. The one-handed sword gained a stronger guard means, and the twin swords were able to joke monsters with more flashy moves. The hammer, light bowgun, bow, and slash ax are also reinforced with rope bugs so that they can bring a different flow of action than the previous one.

    This is not simply done through the action through’rope bug’, but the change and improvement made by harmonizing the rope bug action with minor changes in action. This is a change that clearly shows how much Monster Hunter Rise studied the previous work’World’, which can be seen for each weapon, and heard feedback while watching user trends.

    Wasn’t it the change that users are most happy with and want the most? Although I lost the clutch claw added in Iceborn, I showed a willingness to deliver a new refreshment while trying to change the action with a new means of a rope bug, while catching the point pointed out as a shortcoming of the previous work to the maximum. In addition, there is a plan intended to be used in the right place without overburdening by putting a cool time and a limit on the number of times for rope bugs.

    The new’Dragon Control’ created by the appearance of a rope bug was also available in this build. Dragon control is a new attack method in which a large monster is mounted and attacked, and when it is exhausted after an attack using a rope worm, a special field interaction item, or a powerful attack between monsters, such dragon control is activated.

    If you board a large monster like this, you can use the monster on board to make strong-weak attacks and evade. It is also possible to hang with the clutch of the previous work-blow it away (so-called wall-to-wall), and also use a dragon control weapon that can inflict powerful damage by filling the gauge. Through this, it is possible to have a deal time by inflicting great damage to the target monster or generating great rigidity. In addition, when controlling dragons in multiplayer, other allies can inflict damage to the controlling dragon, but they are not attacked by the controlling dragon, allowing selfish deals to be exchanged.

    There are also status enhancements and minor item changes. In this work, the hunters wear the’flower bracelet’, a bracelet made of farewell flowers, and they can collect and raise their status by collecting the humanoids they meet during the quest. You can reach certain points on the map by using large rope bugs, and you can use the rope bug action to move places that you couldn’t normally go to in the past using wall riding. There is a bit of annoyance as the Inhonjos have to collect each in multiplayer. On the basis of the trial version, when the experience ends, you need to collect the Inhonjos again, but in the full version, it is expected that the Inhonjos collected so far will be counted.

    The companions are now dogs and cats. Garuk is a rideable companion and uses various skills to help aggressively. The traditional Airu appears as a universal companion that helps attack while giving various effects such as restoring the hunter’s stamina, and can take both Garuk and Airu for hunting. They had physical strength, and when their physical strength fell, they could see how they recovered their physical strength in place. This is an experiential version, so it is a phenomenon that occurs because the attack power of the hunter is low, but in particular, Garuk’s firepower is so influential that it cannot be ignored.

    In the case of the potion eaten during hunting, a certain value will recover immediately, but the rest must be drunk until the end. There is a means to drink at once through certain creatures, but it has changed into a form of’midpoint’ that is a little different from the days when drinking and languishing, rather than a style that slowly kicks long like the world.

    It may seem that there is no big difference from the graphics alone, but when you actually play the game, you can feel that the direction of the hunting action pursued by’Monster Hunter Rise’ is very different from the’Monster Hunter World’ series. The big direction of the basic’hunting action’ itself has not changed, but small changes gathered to create a new trend different from the previous work. The action has a strong feeling of inheriting the concept of portable devices, but other convenient functions (the guide bug has disappeared and the location of the monster is immediately displayed on the map) and other various items inherited the’Monster Hunter World’. There are also, but there is a feeling of boldly making changes and providing’pleasant hunting’.

    So I got a little worried. As’Monster Hunter World’ recorded the most sales in the series, it can be said that there are not a few users who have encountered the Monster Hunter series with World-Icebone. I think that’Monster Hunter Rise’, which has a strong propensity to connect the genealogy of portable devices, can be felt as a strange monster hunter because the direction of the previous work has changed.

    As it is a game made based on a portable device, it is quite different from the game shown by good specifications for stationary devices such as PCs and home consoles. The RE engine was used to improve the graphics, and the Nintendo Switch has a part with better specifications than the previous generation portable devices, so it is correct that it is a great graphic compared to the previous generation of portable devices.

    However, even if it is played in the stationary mode, it is inevitably compared to the previous work’Monster Hunter World’ in the detailed parts of the sound or graphics, and it is the next work that is not so outstanding. It is an unavoidable choice as the specifications of the platform and device have changed. No matter how much the concept of hunting action itself has not changed and only the flow has changed, the experience delivered to the player has also changed significantly.

    In that regard, it may be difficult for users who have entered the World Series to easily adapt to the changes of’Rise’. The clutch claw actions used in Iceborne have been deleted, the wounds are gone, and virtually no technique is required, but there is no’Clutch Claw-Blow Up’ which has a large return.

    In addition, since you have to hunt without all the various skills used in the world, it takes some time to adapt to the changed hunting tempo and flow. You, who were admired for being called the Blue Star of the New World, became a beginner hunter in the 6th squad. In the midst of becoming a newbie with insufficient skills, he has to adapt to the new system. Hunters who have been able to play with old dragons from old games may not be very good, but world beginners can be very difficult. I am worried that it is an environment where you can feel’different feelings’ rather than new.

    In fact, in the first Tamamitsune hunt, I felt the irrationality of being difficult to evade, being pushed a lot of guards, and knowing little about the pattern, as if it were Kshaldaora’s big rigid head banging and dragon wind pressure tornado. Of course, as I gradually learned and became accustomed to it by repeating hunting, it became enough to do it, and I gained confidence in what kind of weapon I would try to use next time.

    This is the key. Eventually, only the flow has changed, and the joy and sense of accomplishment of hunting is still the best attraction of the’Monster Hunter’ series, and Monster Hunter Rise has enough of it. Practice, familiarize yourself with the monster’s pattern, and move and respond with anticipation. The patterns that were difficult at first encounter also slowly become accustomed and respond skillfully. It is the joy of’Monster Hunter’ that gradually grows into a hunter. Even if the same monster is defeated several times, the same scenario does not appear every time and a different drama is drawn.

    This core charm has not changed, and the trial version has faithfully captured it. Although the trial version cannot show 100% of the game and you do not know how it will change in the future, I would recommend that users with Nintendo Switch try playing the trial version of’Monster Hunter Rise’. It’s a good opportunity to accept the process of growing up as a hunter and a professional hunter as’joy’. I hope everyone enjoys a new look of the 6th squad hunter with’Monster Hunter Rise’.
