The cumulative number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) in Italy has exceeded 3 million.
Italian health officials said that as of the 5th (local time), the number of new confirmed cases per day was 24,000. Cumulatively, it is 3023,000,129 people.
It has been one year and one month since the first local infection was reported in February of last year that the cumulative number of corona 19 confirmed cases in Italy exceeded the 3 million mark. About 230,000 infected people per month.
It is the 8th time that the cumulative number of confirmed cases worldwide recorded 3 million, following the United States, India, Brazil, Russia, the United Kingdom, France and Spain.
The number of deaths increased by 297 a day to 9,271. The total death toll is the second largest in Europe after the UK and the sixth largest in the world.
In Italy, mutations originating from the UK are spreading rapidly and the number of infected people is increasing rapidly. The number of new confirmed cases recorded on this day was the highest in about three months since November 28 (26,321) last year, the second epidemic.
It has risen for five days in a row since the 1st of this month, and it is a record of 20,000 people for three consecutive days since the 3rd. Some experts have analyzed that the third epidemic has already begun.
The virus reproductive index released by the health authorities on the same day also reached a national average of 1.06, exceeding the 1.0 mark in 7 weeks.
The reproductive index is an indicator of the number of people infected by one patient. If it is more than 1.0, it is highly likely to lead to large-scale radio waves.
The National Institute for Higher Health (ISS), which monitors the virus spread on a weekly basis, recommended to the government that “the virus is spreading rapidly due to the influx of mutations.”
