Normally, the final round of the LPGA tour ends on Sunday afternoon in US local time and on Monday morning in Korean time. Therefore, golf fans often suffer from the hardships they have to see from early morning on Monday to see the winning scenes of Korean players who are active in the LPGA tour. However, domestic golf fans can watch the final LPGA tour on Sunday morning for five weeks starting from the beginning of next month.
The LPGA Tour Lotte Championship, which will be held on April 15-17 (Korean time), and the Huzel-Air Premia LA Open, held on the 22nd and 24th, will both be held on Wednesdays and Saturdays on a local date. Therefore, Saturday afternoon on the US date when the final round is held is Sunday morning in Korea.
The Lotte Championship is held in Hawaii and the LA Open in California, so the final round ends in the morning, not dawn, in Korean time. Therefore, Korean fans can watch the live broadcast with a leisurely pace. The Lotte Championship was originally held from Wednesday to Saturday, but the LA Open changed the game schedule from Wednesday to Saturday from this year. However, the Lotte Championship changed the venue from Ko Olina Golf Club to Kapolei Golf Club.
The reason why the LA Open changed from Thursday-Sunday to Wednesday-Saturday is that the following tournament is the HSBC Women’s World Championship held in Singapore. If the game ends on Sunday in the United States, it is not easy to travel long distances to Singapore, so it is adjusted to end on Saturday.
Following the HSBC Women’s World Championship, which will be held for four days from April 29, the Honda LPGA Thailand will be held in Thailand on May 6-9. If the Blue Bay LPGA, which is scheduled to be held in China on May 13-16, is held without a hitch, the LPGA Tour competition where you can watch the final round on Sunday in Korea will be held for 5 consecutive weeks.
Meanwhile, the LPGA Tour announced that the HSBC Women’s World Championship, which had been unclear until now, and Honda LPGA Thailand, were confirmed to be held as scheduled. LPGA Tour explained that many obstacles such as movement, entry, and self-isolation of players due to the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) were resolved with the cooperation of relevant national quarantine authorities such as the United States, Singapore, and Thailand.
