North Korea recently inquired at the European embassies about how to secure a vaccine against the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19), the Wall Street Journal of the United States (WSJ) reported on the 4th (local time), citing multiple sources. The newspaper, however, did not comment on the country to which North Korea inquired. North Korea blocked its borders with China and Russia in January of last year and implemented a blockade policy, and so far, the confirmed cases of Corona 19 are’zero’ (0).

North Korea is strengthening the prevention of new coronavirus infections (Corona 19) ahead of the 8th Party Congress. On the 4th, the Labor Newspaper, an agency of the North Korean Labor Party, urged, “Let’s tighten the gods of the heart (shoelaces) that have been tightly tightened, maintain a state of super tension, and reliably ensure the welfare of the people and the safety of the country.” [뉴스1]
It is interpreted that North Korea’s movement is trying to secure a vaccine when a vaccine to prevent Corona 19 has been developed and entered into the vaccination in the United States and the United Kingdom.
In the meantime, it seems that North Korea has also submitted an application to receive support for the Corona 19 vaccine to the World Vaccine Immunization Association (Gavi, Gavi), a non-governmental organization. A spokesman for the World Vaccine Immunization Association told WSJ that “the vaccine demand in each country is being calculated and new information will be provided soon,” without commenting on whether North Korea has applied for the vaccine.
Gabi is leading the’COVAX’ council to supply the Corona 19 vaccine to the world. Last month, the group revealed that 86 of 92 low-income countries that are eligible for the COVAX AMC (COVAX AMC), which provide vaccines to developing countries with funds donated by developed countries, submitted vaccine applications.
