# Samyang Foods introduced stick-type buldak sauce in December last year. The liquid soup of the filial piety product’Buldak-bokkeummyeon’ was separately released in 2018, and the product was again packaged individually in units of 16g to increase portability. Samyang Foods plans to increase the sales portion of domestic sauce products such as red chicken sauce and fire chicken mayo in China this year. An official at Samyang Foods said, “Buldak sauce was born at the request of consumers to sell the liquid soup of the fried noodles of Buldak, and a new product was released by reflecting consumer opinions on portability and use.”

Last year, as the popularity of K-food spread through cultural contents, it was counted that the export of Korean sauces recorded a record high.
According to a report on’Promising Item AI Report-Sauces’ by the Institute for International Trade and Trade of the Korea International Trade Association on the 5th, exports of sauces to Korea last year reached a record high of $31.72 million. This is a 25.8% increase from the previous year.
Korean sauce exports have continued to increase by 8-11% every year since 2016. In the case of last year, it was analyzed that the increase in global demand for home meals due to the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) and the increase in the awareness of K Food through K-pop and movies and dramas triggered an increase in demand for Korean sauces.
By detailed category, exports of’other sauces’ such as chicken sauce, tteokbokki, bulgogi, and buldak sauce jumped 33.6%. Other sauces account for more than half of all sauces exports.
As a result of comprehensive evaluation of nine indicators, including growth rates of gross domestic product (GDP), population, and imports by major countries, artificial intelligence (AI) found that China (84.1 points) has the highest potential for exporting Korean sauces. After China, the United States (81.6 points) followed by Russia (80.8 points). Currently, China is the second-largest country to export sauces to Korea after the United States.
