The quarantine authorities determined that it is very unlikely that the novel coronavirus (Corona 19) mutant virus, which is prevalent in the UK, is currently spreading in the domestic community.

Tae-ho Yoon, head of quarantine at the Central Accident Control Headquarters (heavy water version), asked at a back briefing on the response to Corona 19 on the 29th. It is unlikely that it is spreading in society.

He explained, “We are conducting genetic tests on confirmed patients, but the mutant virus was only detected in a family member who recently entered the UK, and there are no cases of mutant virus among the infected people in the community.”

Currently, there are only three members of their families who have returned from the UK on the 22nd, who have been confirmed to be infected with the mutant virus in Korea.

The mutant virus with high transmission power has been found in the UK and South Africa (South Africa), and infections have been confirmed in more than 20 countries worldwide.

Sohn Young-rae, head of the Strategic Planning Division of Jungsu-bon, emphasized that “there was no time for a path to spread to the community,” saying, “We caught the confirmed person under the quarantine control network and confirmed the infection of the mutant virus after quarantine.”

A total of 17 people had contact with family members infected with the mutant virus, who boarded a flight from London to Korea. Twelve crew members and five passengers all tested negative on diagnostic tests and are being monitored for symptoms in isolation.

The government has been conducting full-length genome analysis, comparing and analyzing all the nucleotide sequences of the viral genome for some confirmed patients since last March in order to check whether the domestic confirmed patients are infected with the mutant virus, and 1,660 cases have been completed so far.

51 cases were also analyzed for domestic and foreign confirmed patients who entered the country since October, and no mutant virus was detected.

The authorities analyze all confirmed cases from the UK and South Africa, and examine about 10% of those entering the country by classifying the risk by country of travel.

The authorities said, “Because we conducted a sample investigation of confirmed patients before October, there is a possibility that there was a patient infected with the mutant virus, but the first time the mutation was reported in the UK was at the end of September, so it is not likely due to time. Explained.

In addition, the government is obligated to conduct a’diagnostic test before quarantine release’ for all foreign visitors starting on the 30th, starting with those who are expected to be released from quarantine.

“For foreign immigrants, diagnostic tests have been conducted within 3 days of entry, and since pre-isolation tests were added this time,” said Yun, head of quarantine general manager.
