Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a phone call with US President Joe Biden on the 17th (local time).
This is the first phone call made about a month after President Biden took office on the 20th of last month.
According to Reuters, the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement that day, “The dialogue that lasted for about an hour was very friendly and warm. The two leaders decided to work together to confirm the long-standing personal ties and further strengthen the cooperation between Israel and the United States. I did.”
When President Biden, who took office on the 20th of last month, made phone contact with the world’s top leaders in the early days of his inauguration, but did not call the Prime Minister of Israel, a friend of the Middle East, various interpretations came up.
Some observers have observed that President Biden deliberately distance himself from Prime Minister Netanyahu, who was particularly close to former President Donald Trump.
However, in an interview with the local media, Prime Minister Netanyahu dismissed some doubts that President Biden was intentionally trying to exclude him.
President Biden met with reporters right after the call and said, “We had a good conversation with Netanyahu.”
