The Incheon Police launched an investigation to find out the truth amid suspicions of land speculation amid a sharp increase in land transaction volume just before the designation of the 3rd new city in Gyeyang Technovelli.

The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency’s Metropolitan Investigation Unit announced on the 10th that it had formed a dedicated TF related to real estate speculation, headed by Yang Dong-jae, the Metropolitan Investigation Chief. The real estate speculation-related TF consisted of 15 people including two anti-corruption investigation teams and a crime profit tracking team.

As a result of a recent police check, 96 land transactions were made in the area where the Gyeyang Techno Valley project was scheduled from 2015 to recently, with 124 traders in total.

Gyeyang-gu, Incheon, which includes this area, was a place where the pure land transaction volume suddenly increased by 2.5 times in November 2018, just before the announcement of the new city, and it was raised that the possibility of leakage before the announcement of business information was raised.

In fact, in Dongyang-dong, Gyeyang-gu, which accounts for a significant proportion of the project site, eight land transactions were made in November of the same year, which had been made 1 to 4 monthly in the second half of 2018.

In addition, the police are planning to carry out an investigation, including the construction project of the public housing district in the Geomam Station area and the Daejang district in Bucheon. The construction of public housing districts in the Geomam Station area is a project promoted by Incheon Metropolitan City Corporation.

The project aims to supply a house for 6,389 households in a scale of 790,000 square meters in Geomam-dong, Seo-gu, Incheon, of 700 billion won by next year.

In the Bucheon Daejang New Town announced in May 2019, 20,000 households will be built on a scale of 1,040,000 pyeong in Daejang-dong, Ojeong-dong, and Wonjong-dong, Bucheon-si. A 300,000 pyeong park and a multi-sport center will be built here.

A police official said, “We have secured land transactions since 2015 related to Gyeyang Techno Valley, and we have undertaken a thorough investigation of 124 people in 96 lots. We will thoroughly investigate the actual buyers and sellers of land to find out the truth.”
