Is it because all the cars that use wheels in the snow are imported cars like Mercedes, BMW, and Audi because they are just rear-wheel drive? (video)

The world is white when I go home. It was heavy snow on January 6th. I’m a public transport enthusiast, bringing a car on a day like this. In the end, it took 3 hours and 30 minutes to take an hour. In the midst of tense and boring, I saw a strange sight. The uphill road turned into a parking window, and all of the cars that couldn’t squeeze were foreign cars. My domestic SUV had no problem moving forward (even though I moved carefully) on an uphill road. That’s weird. Why are all the cars that roll and roll around Mercedes, BMW and Audi?

It was a reasonable doubt. Although high-performance foreign-made vehicles are often rear-wheel-driven, they are shipped with summer tires (summer tires) instead of winter tires or all-season tires. High-performance imported cars and domestic luxury sedans prefer rear-wheel drive because they prioritize ride comfort and driving stability. The rear-wheel drive has excellent movement performance as the engine and the drive shaft are separated, and it is sophisticated even when turning corners. This is also the reason why it feels soft when riding a good car.

The problem is that when a rear-wheel drive vehicle meets a summer tire, it is extremely dangerous on the snowy road. So why use summer tires for luxury cars with rear wheel drive? Except for the winter season, summer tires are superior. It is overwhelming in terms of cornering, handling and braking. Automotive YouTuber Han-yong Kim says: “When I ride a German car for the first time, I feel like’Hey, the handling is really good’, but there are times when I can’t feel the difference from a domestic car just by changing the tire.” It is a double-edged sword. Is it a smooth ride or a bumpy safety? Just as the soles of soccer shoes and basketball shoes are different, summer tires and winter tires have different rubber components and different friction.

Not summer tires, but four-season tires move around in winter when it’s not snowy, but summer tires are a little slippery, but the wheels turn in vain. You can’t even move forward in the snow. Like those foreign cars that I witnessed many times on the night of the 6th. In general, I think that rear-wheel drive cars are not eye-catching, but to be precise, it is correct to say that the combination of rear-wheel drive and summer tires is so.

Germany pays a fine for driving without winter tires, but in Korea, which imports cars from that country, most people drive with only summer tires. Imports drivers are not saying to change tires quickly. It means to check the vehicle options properly and move. Remember that if snow removal is not working properly or heavy snow falls again, you may not be able to start even on flat ground just because the rear wheel drive is summer tires. We hope that everyone will be safe at this time when the epidemic of Corona 19 has hit a cold wave.
